I took my 3 year old niece shopping at a mall many years ago. While in the department store she disappeared in a flash. My mother, sister and I were in a panic and calling for her. We had salespeople running all over looking as well. Maybe 3 minutes passed, but it seemed like an hour. All of a sudden I thought I heard a little giggle from nearby. I couldn’t figure where it was coming from, but I did know it was my nieces giggle. My heart stopped racing and I called her again and then stopped to listen. The giggle came again. The reality hit then that she was okay and playing a game of hide and seek. I motioned to my family and they came to where I was and I motioned to the circular clothing rack near us. They caougth on and we were all relieved beyond belief, but also wanted to strangle her at the same time. We all started calling her again and by now she tired of the game and popped out of the clothing so proud of herself that she had tricked us. If she only knew how she had scared the living daylights out of us. How do you tell a child that young the dangers of a game like that? She was the cutest thing (still is at 24). I can’t imagine how parents that do lose their child cope with it. I’m only an aunt and I felt as though my world was falling apart.
I can see a lot of uses I would have had for the Guardian Angel Bracelet when the children in my life were little. After that incident with my niece I saw how quickly a child can get lost. A cell phone number isn’t a bad idea for everyday use.
